How the Sirona Cares Progam Works
Sustainable Economic Development:
The Sirona team, is perfecting a model for cooperative
farming that does not interfere with food production
or increase reliance on fossil fuel. Our pilot project is in
Haiti, but the model is scalable and may be applied
wherever Jatropha grows. Sirona makes Jatropha oil
available first for in-country consumption at a price
that supports the farmers. When in-country sales will
not support the project, Sirona Fuels, our sister for-profit
company will buy, export and refine the oil in
America.
Our primary objective is to support the agricultural
project by funding micro-lending for farmers to begin
farming Jatropha. Ultimately we will leave
sustainable communities in Haiti and move to other
countries with similar issues.
Support for Children:
As we enter a community we assess and address, with
our partners, the most dire needs of the children in the
area.
We engage non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
that specialize in addressing these needs to improve
conditions. As one goal is achieved, the next is
tackled, until the children of the community are safe,
healthy, and educated, and the economic
development of the community has reached a level
where it can independently provide these services.
Milestones for the Children of the Community:
- Clean, safe drinking water
- Food security
- Adequate health care
- Enhanced Nutrition
- Enhanced Education
Sustainability is the key to all of our programs.
Everything we do supports the mission of developing
sustainable communities which may in turn be
replicated in their regions and reverse the crippling
effects of poverty. Successful implementation of our
program will allow us to extract ourselves and leave our
partners to replicate their success.
Where the Program Works
The Sirona Cares Program will work where there is no
frost. This means that communities situated between
the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, the zone within
which many of the world’s poorest people live, can
participate in our program.

By developing strong partnerships we assess needs and tackle serious problems for communities in developing countries
