Success Stories:
The “Haiti Proposal” for Jatropha farming has been
completed with input from our Haitian partners.
We have started nurseries in three areas, and
planting in two. Our program is being discussed all
over Haiti, and we are currently evaluating new
communities and working with potential donors to
fund micro-lending during 2010.
The Moringa Program has provided enhanced
nutrition and reversal of malnutrition in children
throughout western Haiti. (Partners: Trees for Life,
ESMI, Global Orphan Project and the Haitian
Health Foundation)
We assisted in digging a well that supplies safe
drinking water at a school to 500 children (Partner:
Mission of Hope). In 2010 we have two additional
water project requests we are evaluating.
Food supplements have been provided to three
orphanages assisting 150 children with a quarter of
the year’s food. This food source, Akamil 1000, is
locally grown, and nutritionally balanced. Sirona
Cares, through supports both Children’s Nutrition as
well as the local economy through this program.
(Partner: Haitian Health Foundation)
Humanitarian aid has always been part of our
program. We supply clothing, medicine and
toiletries to orphans. Following the earthquake we
have collected, sorted and prepared for shipment
over 40,000 cubic feet of aid.
Poor hygiene causes high rates of infant mortality
in rural areas. During a United Nations
International Women’s Day celebration in San
Francisco a gaol of 50,000 nail clippers was set for
this year. Those clippers will save an estimated
250,000 children’s lives. (Partners: Global Arts and
Education and the Haitian Health Foundation)

Post earthquake we have provided the necessary
funding to repair one orphanage facility in
Jeremie allowing the women and girls to sleep
inside. We are working on plans to rebuild three
schools and two orphanages with a Buy a Brick
campaign that is running at several Bay Area
schools, churches and businesses. 100% of
proceeds from this effort will go to building
structures to replace what was lost in the
earthquake.
We are successfully connecting communities in
Haiti with communities here. We facilitate the
creation of sister schools to enhance education
here and abroad.
Sirona Cares for Schools: Feeling a need to create
sustainable communities here as well as
internationally we help the environment and
support public schools in the San Francisco Bay
Area through a bio-recycling program which
directly funds participating public schools through
unrestricted quarterly grants. We also extend the
Sirona Cares for Schools Program to group homes
and projects directed at supporting the children
of the Bay Area.
